The son of long-time State Representative Arthur Turner, Art is about as pedigreed a West Side politician you can get, zooming up in the ranks to become an Assistant House Majority Leader, despite only two terms in office.

Art was appointed to succeed his father in December 2010 following his father's failed campaign to become then-Gov. Pat Quinn's 2010 running mate.
