29th Ward Map - City Ward Map

Former U.S. Marine and Chicago Police sergeant, Chris Taliferro, with the support of Cong. Danny Davis, former Alderman Isaac Carothers (29) and Ald. Nicholas Sposato (38), defeated incumbent alderman, Deborah Graham, who received strong support from Jason Ervin (28), Mayor Rahm Emanuel and his Chicago Forward PAC. Taliaferro, a Virginia native, joined the CPD in 1994 with only a high school diploma. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s in Criminal and Social Justice at Lewis University and his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, all while on the force.

Taliaferro has been generally quiet in Council meetings, and his Progressive Caucus membership has been strained by his pro-cop leanings, as police reform has become one of the city's most challenging issues.

He is a founding partner at the Nexus Legal Group, P.C., a family law firm. His wife, Melissa, is his high school sweetheart. He is a member of the Progressive Caucus.
