Cook County, New Trier Township Democratic Committeeman (2010-)
A constant political presence in Cook County Democratic circles, for a time it seemed like Maragos was always running for office. Originally a Lakeview resident, Maragos took his shot at Alderman in 2003 but was badly beaten by Thomas Tunney, who had the support of the ward Democratic organization and the momentum of becoming Chicago's first openly gay alderman.
Even though Maragos later moved to Wilmette, he remained politically active and maintained politically high profile clients for his legal practice, including representing a group of Wrigley rooftop owners for decades.
Finally, in 2010, long time New Trier Township Democratic Committeeman Bill Crowley announced his retirement. The Committeeman seat was handed over to him in an unopposed election.
