Kevin Bailey

Chicago, 20th Ward Democratic Committeeman (2016-)

A civil engineer by training, Bailey burst onto the political scene in 2015 by running a low-spending campaign for 20th Ward alderman that managed to obtain 21% of the vote and pull incumbent Ald. William Cochran into a runoff election. While Bailey ultimately lost, his youth – he was 27 during the 2015 campaign – and vigor established himself as a comer that isn't going away soon. Cochran, who seems to have lost the fire he once had for politics, cut a deal with Bailey and handed off the Ward Committeeman spot to him in 2016. It is unclear what Cochran got in return, or if Cochran is just planning to completely fade away in 2019.
