Kwame Raoul

b. Sept. 30, 1964

Illinois, State Senator (2004-)

An active member of Toni Preckwinkle's 4th Ward Organization, Kwame Raoul was an attorney for Chicago City Colleges when he was appointed State Senator in 2004 to replace recently elected U.S. Senator Barack Obama. At the time, the choice of Raoul was somewhat of a surprise, since he was picked instead of another 4th Ward resident, current Alderman William Burns, who had the support of then-Senate President Emil Jones.

Raoul is an active legislator in Springfield, and also a busy fundraiser. He is rumored to be looking to move up the ladder.
