Larry Rogers, Jr.
Cook County, Board of Review, District 3 (2004-)
One of The Jackson Five, Larry Rogers, Jr. vaulted into office after defeating South Side powerhouse Robert Shaw with the support of then-Cong. Jesse Jackson, Jr.. But Rogers, Jr. had some familial help too – his father Larry Rogers, Sr. is one of the founding members of one of the Midwest's biggest personal injury firms, Powers Rogers & Smith. Along with fellow founder Joe Powers, Rogers, Sr. is one of the largest Democratic Party donors in Chicago. Rogers, Jr. is also a partner at his father's law firm.
Rogers was briefly a candidate for a Cook County State's Attorney in 2008 but dropped out before filing. He has not publicly expressed interest other political office since then, but has become a steady pillar in Black Chicago politics, and consistently one of the most important fundraisers for Black candidates seeking higher office.
