Kimberly Lightford

b. May 10, 1968

Illinois, State Senate (1998-)
Assistant Majority Leader

A former employee of Secretary of State Jesse White, Kimberly Lightford was also a Maywood Village Trustee when then-State Sen. Earlean Collins announced plans to run for Cook County Commissioner in 1998. After winning a tight seven person Democratic primary in March, Lightford was appointed to Collins' seat early in November, when Collins decided to move to Cook County Board early. As a result, Lightford has slightly more seniority than her other Senate colleagues elected in 1998.
