Cook County, Board of Review, District 2 (2011-)

A one-time staffer for Sens. Paul Simon and Dick Durbin, Cabonargi earned his law degree and after a few years in law firms, moved to serve as an attorney for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Then in 2011, he was appointed by Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans to serve out the remainder of Joseph Berrios' Board of Review term after he was elected Cook County Assessor.

Since 2015 Cabonargi has also held a position with Kroll, a global risk management consulting firm. Until 2009 Cabonargi and his family lived in Logan Square. They now live in Wilmette.

His wife Erin Lavin Cabonargi was Executive Director of the Public Building Commission of Chicago from 2006 to 2015.
